I have been told that if you buy a train ticket 24 hours before your train is due to leave, you get a percentage of up to 50% deducted from your ticket price, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's true or not before I try it. Also, this may only be in the UK?

  1. In the U.K. you generally have to book at least one week in advance to get the most generous discounts although a railcard will give you a one third discount on many tickets bought for immediate travel. www.epicsavings.co.uk

Chiltern Railways who operate trains from London Marylebone to Banbury,Leamington Spa, Stratford Upon Avon and Birmingham also have a range of inexpensive tickets for immediate travel. www.chilternrailways.co.uk
