it was 4 months ago now, on the first day i felt some c**p in the back of my throat and on the very same night i was attacked by a VERY sharp stomach pain which caused me to vomit and after that i was fine, the next morning i woke up with a cold, it lasted about 3 days, then i was 'ok' for about 4 days then got sick for a few more days, got better and then the third time came along and i went to the doctor because i thought i was developing a sinus infection, i told him about the sinus infection related symptoms like pain behind the eye when i stood up and so on but i didn't have a fever and i didn't produce any mucus... then... but because i was coughing up c**p she diagnosed me with a lung infection and she gave me penecillin (also works for sinus infection) about a week later i was fine and didn't get sick again, but i always felt mucus in my throat on and off just like the first night, so i feel like i got half a cold quite often so i can still go to school and all but now 4 months later i get sick again and i feel my sinuses slightly (only slightly) acting up when i stand and such, otherwise they're just producing more mucus. one explenation may be allergies, what do you think? sorry this novel was so long xD

  1. This sounds pretty typical of chronic sinusitis.  Allergies are a common cause, but the only way to know for sure about allergies is to get screened for them by an allergist.  This problem can also occur  from physical blockage of the sinuses from being born with narrow sinus cavities, development of polyps, and inflammation due to irritants or autoimmune problems.

I have had similar problems and it took me several decades to figure out a manageable solution.  For me, allergies are the main cause, but I also have a narrow spot in my sinuses on the one side that always seems to be worse than the other.  The solution for me is taking allergy shots, along with Zyrtec and Mucinex-D.  I have always resisted taking medications on a daily basis, but this combination keeps me from getting almost daily headaches and frequent infections.

It would be a good idea to schedule an appointment with an ENT doc to see where to start.  I ended up with my particular treatment after years of trial-and-error.

  2. Sinus problems can cause you to be sick for a long time.  They can also cause vomiting sometimes.  Many people are having a bad time with their sinuses right now.  When you have bad sinuses, they can cause you to have a low immunity to colds and the flu.  Check back with your doctor and see about getting something to help them.  Sinus problems can be a real pain, and yes, you have mucus much of the time.....
