Tottenham Hotspurs hosted this exciting premier league encounter with Everton. The game was the first one for this weekend’s Premier League and both clubs enjoy a rich history in the first tier of English football.
It was interesting see how Tottenham would play this encounter, following their rather weak performance against Inter Milan.
Spurs found themselves 4-0 down with 10 men in the first half but it took an inspirational performance from left winger, Gareth Bale, to take the side to 4-3. Bale scored a remarkable hat-trick against the defending Champions and it would be now a matter
of stamina to see what the Spurs players do in the Premier League.
Both sides seemed to be in good stride in the opening exchanges, with pretty decent football being played. It was the away side, who drew first blood, as midfielder Baines found the net in the 17th minute. The player saw the keeper drifting to
the right post and took advantage with an audacious shot from the midfielder to beat the keeper.
However, redemption wasn’t far for the hosts, as midfielder, Rafael Van Vaart, found the equalizer only 3 minutes later.
Striker Peter Crouch found the former Real Madrid man in front of goal, who banged the ball past goalkeeper Howard, leveling the scores.
Winger Gareth Bale was impressive yet again as he proved too quick for the Merseyside club to handle. The winger cut-ins were too much for the side and took two very good shots on goal.
At half time, the scores were level with nothing to choose between the two sides in any department.
Spurs lead in terms of shots taken while Everton played extremely well in midfield and didn’t let much pass by them. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp would want to change some things in the midfield in order to find another goal. Van Der Vaart played extremely
well and Everton should think of man-marking this player in order choke further attacks by the hosts.
