Half-time analysis: San Antonio Spurs vs. Portland Trail Blazers
The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers are renowned for their offensive prowess - not so much in the defensive court though. On Tuesday at the Rose Garden, the two Western conference Giants took on each other for the fourth time in the 2010-11
season.
The Spurs are looking to snap a four-game losing streak in Portland, while the Trail Blazers will be trying to avoid their first three-game home skid in nearly three years.
Before the start of the game, San Antonio Head Coach Gregg Popovich stated, "You keep competing, executing, and trying to improve. It doesn't matter if you have the best record or the worst record."
First Quarter Recap
The Sizzling Spurs got off to a quick start, and took an early 7-0 lead courtesy of their tenacious defence. However, San Antonio got a little bit loose around the mid-way point of the quarter, turning the ball over and missing shots. The Trailblazers took
advantage, to grab their first lead of the game at 18-16.
Portland hit 58 percent of their first-quarter field goals, led by 16 points from LaMarcus Aldridge.
Tim Duncan led the scoring for the Spurs, who hit 50 percent from the field and played some decent defence, with seven points. Five players scored for Portland in the first as they took a two-point lead into the second.
