In a true exciting encounter between two top Premier League sides, Manchester United host Tottenham Spurs. The match was expected to be a cracker and displayed fast paced football in the opening 45 minutes of the match.
The first 25 minutes went by in blazing speed, with each side firing an early warning. J.S. Park found the framework in the 5th minute, after being set up by Nani in the mid. The Korean fired a shot from distance which beat the goalkeeper but
was denied by the goal post. Moments later, Spurs found the post as well when Van Der Vaart took an audacious shot from distance to defeat Van Der Sar but was denied the opportunity to score by the goal post.
However, it was the home side that found the opening goal of the game. Kaboul fouled Hernandez a few yard out of the penalty box. Nani stepped up to take the penalty and delivered a perfect cross for defender Vidic, who used the pace of the ball to find
the back of the net. It was the second goal of the season by the United Captain who has been brilliant at the back. Vidic is amazing when it comes to using the head and displayed wonderful positioning on the set up.
Spurs however can never be counted out and played some beautiful football. Van Der Vaart took a good corner to set up Modric on the edge of the box who used the volley to take a shot at goal. The shot was on target but veteran goal keeper Edwin Van Der Sar
made a brilliant full stretch save to deny the side a chance to equalize. The Spurs have had more of the ball in the first half, with 56% of possession.
That are pretty good statistics, especially when a side is playing at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson would have to fix a few errors in his current formation and do something about Van Der Vaart, who has been dangerous all game long. If the hosts keep on
playing like this, Spurs would find the equalising goal owing to the quality of play they have displayed in the first half.
