Halloween costume help??

Question

I need lots of help with a costume, haha. Id like a Magenta (from the rocky horror picture show) costume. I need it CHEAP. No more than 25 dollars. Including the wig. So...help? lol.

don't wear just any french maid outfit!  magenta is does NOT wear a french maid style dress.  her dress is more like a black shirt dress with white collar and cuffs.  i would recomend looking at your local thrift stores for a black shirt dress then replacing the cuffs and collar with white ones.  i've even been lucky on occassion to find a black shirt dress that already has a white collar and cuffs at the thrift store!  you could prob accomplish that for under $10.  you wouldnt even necessarily need an  if you are wearing this for halloween or a party or something, because she wears the dress without the apron for a signifigant part of the movie.  

as far as the wig goes, try the cheap wigs at the halloween store- i've seen auburn color witch wigs as well as renasaince/medievil maiden cheap halloween wigs that would make decent magenta wigs with a little cutting and/or teasing.

dont forget the black boots and black thigh highs.  :)  and unbutton the dress so you get a bit of black bra showing.

I did that a few years back. OK, like 15 years ago! You just need a cheap french maid's costume available at any costume store or website. I just saw one at Target.com for $14.99. If you have a black blouse and short skirt than all you need is the apron and little hat. The wig is another story. Wigs can run from $7 to $50 and magenta's hair is not a common wig type. I braided my real hair into tiny braids while it was wet (like Bo Derek in the movie "10") when it dries it's all frizzy and you just tease it out.
