  1. Strobe light

    Cauldron

    Fog Machine Possibly

    Fake Spider Webs

Halloween Music (Not Actual Music But Sounds)

OR you could get a CD of creepy sounding piano music and put it on in another room so it will seem like it's coming from nowhere

Depending on the age of party guests, get a life like, life size, puppet type thing and hang it from the ceiling with a rope so it looks like someone hung them self! NOTE: I strongly advise you not do this if there will be kids!

Turn your basement into a haunted house

If you have a chandelier, hang tons of spider webs from it

    Good Luck and Happy Halloween!

  2. Decorate with those fake spider webs everywhere and keeps the lights dim. Maybe have candles for lighting instead. You could have some type of creepy music playing in the background (you can get cd's at places like Walmart). Maybe you could serve dinner out of a cauldron if you had a soup or maybe have your punch in it. You could do it in your backyard if you live in a place where its still warm enough and put those fake webs in the trees with spiders hanging down.

  3. Get tons of plastic jack-o-lanterns that light up and fill them throughout the house....play music like the Monster Mash and look up some really cool Halloween recipes.  Also, get lots of nic-nacs and make every corner of the house Halloween-like.  Wooh I LOVE OCTOBER!!!! Happy Halloween :)

  4. Depends on the age group of your guests really...

No matter what - you will always want to have appropriate decorations, music, movies and food.

If this is a kids party....you don't want to make it overly scary.  Many kids under the age of 8 for example - are pretty spooked by darkness still.

For kids under 6 - costumes and fun Halloween Decorations (as opposed to scary) is always best. *You might have to deal with frightened children and angry parents otherwise.

Kids over the age of 8 however - are much more open to it.

For under 8 - the lighting can not be too dim, nor can the music be too scary.  I made a CD with songs like: s****. Doo Theme Song, Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, Shake Sinora (Beetlejuice), etc.  This has been used for the last 4 years at my son's birthday parties and the kids go nuts with it.

(Although they don't really like the last track: Several Species (by Pink Floyd) LOL - so I wouldn't add that one again).

Young Teen's - might need a more conservative party (see the conservative adult party mentioned below)...

YET with older teen's/young adults - you usually can't make it scary enough. You need as much darkness as possible (obviously with a little light (LED's are great) for safety purposes), lots of draping black sheets (preferably shredded) and cobwebs, fake blood, slimy stuff, REALLY scary music, etc.

NOTE: Gory horror flicks might be offensive to many people though (including adults) - so I wouldn't go renting all of the SAW flicks (for example) - just to be safe.

Then we have adults...if the adults coming to your party are totally all out Halloween Freaks...then again - the scarier the better.

But if they aren't - and they are more conservative - you need to remember to make the atmosphere comfortable to sit in and move around, dim enough to keep up with the Halloween theme - but light enough to enable sight.  You will also want to keep the music at a decent enough level that people can still chat.

    Hope that helps...

  5. get a large lack cauldron (available in the seasonal section at rite aid) and put some dry ice in it, then green food coloring and water (it'll smoke green) get a black light and use that as your only lighting (make it completely dark) play scary sound effects....and the rest is up to you.
