Halo 3 question, about the guns and tips

Why is it hard to use sniper close range, but i can use a battle rifle close, and i can headshot 99 percent with BR, but sniper is sum how harder?? can any 1 help? also sniper tips would help 2 :)

The sniper reticule is a lot smaller in comparisson to that of the BR.

the cross hairs on the sniper are much smaller and when the target is closer to you they are moving much faster than if they were all the way across the map. Also when you shoot the BR at their head its a 3 shot burst so its more likely with three bullets firing that one will strike the head. The main reason is the size of the cross hairs though because when your opponent is strafing your BR crosshair is easier to keep locked on the target since when they change direction when you react maybe only some of the cross hair will come off while with the sniper it will be completely off of your target and you miss.

Sniper is mostly a long range weapon and it is harder cause you need like lots of focus on it then any other weapon.
