Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn teased – Video Games Update
343 Industries (343i), the new studio created by Microsoft, to manage all things Halo, have released a trailer for the Halo 4 live action series on the Halo Waypoint YouTube channel.
The teaser starts with lights flickering in a cargo hold of a space cruiser with soldiers chanting “h**l Jumper, h**l Jumper Where you been? Been passing through h**l and back again,” and then you see Master Chief for two seconds after which the screen goes
dark.
The teaser video, being only a minute long, is bound to leave the fans of the game begging for more. It can be seen from the teaser that Microsoft has spared no expense in the production of the web series. It looks as good as a full featured film.
The Forward Unto Dawn web series will introduce a new character which will tie into the games’ plot. The series might also reveal what happened to Master Chief after the end of Halo 3 and how did he end up on the Alien world as shown in the game-play reveal
trailer at Microsoft’s electronic Entertainment expo (E3) conference .
343i is hoping to bring more people aboard the Halo universe since the franchise is now ten years old and many of the new gamers might not be familiar with it and not willing to invest their time into a series with already so many games out. "Microsoft had
to make sure that the web series didn't just appeal to hardcore Halo fans," said the franchise development director at 343i, Frank O'Connor.
It appears that Microsoft is taking the Star Wars route with Halo and trying to branch it into every form of media. Frank O’Connor also stated that, "We needed a way to ensure there was a way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated.
[Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is] an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the universe."
343i has revealed that the web series will have five weekly episodes with each episode being around fifteen minutes in length. If the series is a success it might also pave the way for a Halo movie which has been planned for sometime but the project has
yet to see the light of day.
