Halo3 question how do you pick up skulls?

Question

in the mission the covenant i have finaly found the skull in the extra tower befor you reach the one with all the covenant ground forces. How do you pick it up to unlock the achevement?

pick it up like you would any weapon  there are silver skulls too but those don't unlock acheivements

i u wanna pick them up, you have to press X when ontop of them and they do unlock achievments.. its just depends if u aready got them or not.
