Question:

Halter Fitting.?

anybody have a daily schedule I can use for fitting my QH colt for halter? ie; when to sweat, when to work out, how often, how long to practice standing square for, what to feed, how often to feed, etc. Please, if you dont know anything about fitting, please dont answer this question. Thank you very much!!!

  1. Well i show halter horses too. I work mine every other day except on Sunday. On the days I don't wok them i spend time standing them up. I use two neck sweats and work for about 10-15 mins. depends on how hot it is. I work them in a round pen either on or off a lunge line. I then put back in a stall and let them sweat till they lather.Usually about another10-15 mins. All my halter horses are on crimped oats, equalizer and alfalfa hay. I feed twice a day. Mine get 2 scoops of oats and 1/4 equalizer. Flake of hay.

    The number one book recommended is Winning at Halter by Denny Hassett, it's considered the halter "bible" by many. And covers everything from feeding to training to grooming, you can usually find it on Amazon or most of the horse supply catalogs offer it as well.

    I know I don't KNOW about it...but many sites were recommending this book...
