The Rothosen have secured the signing of former Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler on a free transfer as the player signed a five-year deal.
Thorsten Fink’s side have secured the signing of Rene Adler on a free transfer and the player has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal. Hamburg were one of the many clubs interested in the signing of the player for the past few
months and the side have now brushed aside competition to acquire the German international.
Adler’s future had been under widespread speculation since the start of the previous season. The player had been ruled out for months after he suffered a serious knee injury at the start of the campaign and had to undergo surgery.
His return was made even tougher after on-loan goalkeeper Bernd Leno made some impressive performances to cement his place in the starting line-up.
Hamburg’s sporting director Frank Arnesen claimed that Adler’s capture is a great deal for his side. He insisted that Rene Adler is a German international with loads of experience and to get him on a free transfer is a brilliant
deal.
The chief is confident that the player will return to his best in the next campaign and will shine again for the national team.
“If you can get a 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international goalkeeper on a free transfer, then this is a special opportunity, which we have capitalised on. I hope that by performing well with us, he can earn a recall to the national team,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Adler expressed his delight on the move and admitted that it is a great opportunity to prove himself. The player admitted that he is now fully fit and has recovered from the knee injury.
“I absolutely think that I will emerge stronger from the last year. It was a tough time and I had many lows during my rehab, but in the end it has all paid off. I now feel fit and ready,” he concluded.
Rene Adler made 138 league appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in the six years he spent at the club and also has 10 international caps to his name.
