The Rothosen manager is still confident of finishing in the top-half of the table after his team’s loss to Werder Bremen over the weekend.
Thorsten Fink reckons that his team performed well in their derby game against Werder Bremen despite failing to secure all three points. Both teams locked horns on Saturday, February 18, at the Imtech Arena with the visitors emerging
as 3-1 winners. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mladen-Petric-c26139 scored a consolation for the home side.
Petric pulled one goal back on the 76th minute mark to give the hosts some hope but Arnautovic scored the third for visitors in the 86th minute to deny the Red Shorts from making a comeback.
The manager stayed calm after his team’s defeat and was pleased to see them creating chances throughout the course of 90 minutes. However, the Imtech Arena outfit failed to capitalise on their chances unlike their opponents who
were brilliant.
Fink opined that the River Islanders played extremely well and deserved to win. He praised the opposition for playing some impressive football and admitted that Hamburg have to improve in the future games.
While talking to reporters after the game, the tactician further added:
"When you lose a derby, of course you are not happy, but I was satisfied with the overall performance of my side. It was a hot-blooded derby and my team fought hard, had chances, but unfortunately made mistakes moving forward."
On the other hand, Bremen manager, Thomas Schaaf, expressed his delight at the team’s win away from home. He mentioned that his players were up for the challenge and went out with the purpose of achieving all three points.
He also praised his players for making their chances count unlike the opposition who kept on squandering their opportunities.
"I am delighted with this win. It was totally deserved. The team followed the tactical orders to the letter. Everything was clearer, more secure when we gained possession and that was what proved decisive today," Schaaf concluded.
As a result of this win, Bremen stay fifth on the league table with 36 points while Hamburg are 11th with 26 points.
