The chairman of Hamburg, Carl-Edgar Jarchow has reportedly expressed his interest in the out-of-favour Liverpool forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 and is rumoured to be contemplating signing the Dutchman in the summer.
The 31-year old has experienced a troubled ongoing season at Anfield, and has failed to establish himself in the regular starting eleven. The veteran Liverpool player has made 43 appearances this season, and has only managed to score 5 goals in the process.
Earlier, the Holland International had conceded that his repeated failure to secure a place in the starting eleven might force him into making a move to another club.
Different outfits from across Europe have reportedly expressed their interest in the player, most notable being the German club Hamburg and his former Dutch outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258.
And the former’s intention of landing the player in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 became more manifest after the Red Shorts chairman and the manager openly admired the forward’s ability, and revealed that a move is afoot in order to sign him in summer.
Jarchow told reporters, “Until now there have been no negotiations. We have to sit down with the player and his agent to find a solution.”
However the 57-year old, who took over the chairmanship of the club in March 2011, was wary of the fact that the Premier League offers better wages than the BundesLiga, and admitted that the factor will likely pose difficulties for them in their bid to transfer
the player to Hamburg.
He continued, “The level of wages in the Premier League is very different to ours. Whether there is the possibility of a move remains to be seen.”
Kuyt joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in August 2006 for an undisclosed fee and made his debut for the Reds during the same month against West Ham United. He has since represented the Reds in 283 matches in all competitions and scored 71 goals in total. His last scalp came
against Cardiff City in the final of the Carling Cup in February, which helped in ending the Reds six year title drought.
His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2013.
Meanwhile, Jarchow’s comments about the Dutchman were further echoed by the Hamburg manager, Thorsten Fink who felt that the forward possesses all the skills and the abilities that he cherishes.
“He has class, and he is also a fighter,” Fink told German sports magazine
Kicker.
“There is nothing more that needs to be said about the quality of this player. Whether this is something we feel we want to commit to, we will see.”
