The Hamburg Director of football, Frank Arnesen has conceded that the club are contemplating signing the neglected Liverpool forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 in the summer.
The Holland International has struggled throughout the current season, as he failed to earn a permanent place in the Reds starting eleven. He had mentioned earlier that a lack of playing time for the Merseyside
team, may force him into making a move away from Anfield.
The 31-year old has made 35 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 this season and scored 5 goals.
Arnesen, who has also remained the Director of football at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Tottenham Hotspur, revealed his interest in the forward and believes that he can bring a little bit extra to the Bundesliga team.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I like Kuyt, who is still in good shape, can add something to any team. He is a real team-player with an excellent attitude.”
Kuyt, who has also played for the Netherland club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258, came to Liverpool in August 2006, and made his Premier League debut in the same month. Upon his arrival at Merseyside, the Dutchman conceded
that he always wanted to be a part of a big club, and expressed his delight over representing the Reds. In total, he has made 276 appearances for the club in all competitions and scored 71 goals.
Despite failing to cement his place in the Reds regular starting line-up, the veteran forward has also had his moments this season. He scored his 50th Premier League goal against Wolverhampton
Wanderers in January, and grabbed a winner against Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Anfield. He also played a major role in the Reds Carling Cup triumph in February, in which he scored the second goal for his side, after coming on as
a substitute.
The Dutchman’s contract with the Reds is set to expire by the end of the coming season, a factor which will likely trigger his move away from Anfield this summer.
However, the player’s agent Rob Jansen has turned down the reports which have linked him to a possible move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, and mentioned that a lot of clubs had enquired about the striker recently.
“There have not been any talks with Arnesen or with someone else from HSV. Would Kuyt be interested in a move to the Bundesliga? I can’t say anything about that. A lot of clubs have made enquiries,
but there’s nothing concrete for now.” He said.
Other than Hamburg, the player has reportedly drawn interest from his former club, Feyenoord and is thinking of making a return to the Dutch side. The notion was confirmed by the Chelsea forward, Salomon
Kalou who said in a TV interview: “'Dirk told me he wants to return now. Dirk said to me that I also must come, that we both have to return to Feyenoord.”
