The Croatian born playmaker is close to a transfer to the German side after being persistently linked with the London club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has declared that the Bundesliga outfit has agreed a transfer with Dinamo Zagreb for the deep-lying holding midfielder, although the two clubs are still to reach an agreement on the transfer
fees for the 23-year-old Croatian international.
The Dinamo Zagreb player was expected to move to the English Premier League, as Spurs were monitoring the youngster’s progress but he is now close to joining the Rothosen side. The only part left of the negotiations is the exact
deadline for the deal to be finalised and Arnesen is not clear about it.
The deal has been agreed that the exchange will go through in the current transfer window and deadline is set to be August 30. The Champions League winners of 1983 have also thrashed out personal details with the playmaker.
"We have essentially agreed with Dinamo Zagreb that the change must go through no later than August 30.We are also basically in agreement with the player [over personal terms]," he was quoted saying in an interview.
The Dinosaur’s head coach Thorsten Fink is in no rush to seal the deal and is ready to wait for the transfer to go through as he is a firm believer that the arrival date of the player is of no consequence as long as that player
is really good.
"If one or the other players arrive a little later, then so be it. It is important that we are all convinced by the player," he mused.
