The Hamburg sporting director has hinted that his side could still make a last minute bid for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international.
Former Real Madrid player Rafael Van der Vaart has been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga club Hamburg, a club that he has played for before. There have been reports that the player is unhappy with the uncertainty surrounding
his current club and is keen to join his family in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
Frank Arnesen claimed that Hamburg have not pulled out of the race and has hinted that Rothosen could still go for the attacking midfielder before the summer transfer window closes on August 31.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 sporting director added that Tottenham chairman could get the instant funds he needs to bring in a new striker for the upcoming season so anything can happen at this stage.
“We could do a last-minute deal for Van der Vaart. Tottenham’s chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy could get a kick from doing things this way. I’m ruling nothing out,” Arnesen was quoted as saying in an interview.
Van der Vaart has also refused to comment on the situation, thus adding fuel to speculation. The player stated that nothing can be said at this stage and wants to wait to make the right decision.
“I can’t and won’t say anything at this stage,” the former Los Blancos man added.
On the other hand, Hamburg’s new owner http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Kuhne has stated that he is ready to provide for the funds for the transfer. He insisted that the club needs a big money signing to succeed in the upcoming season and is keen on strengthening
the squad.
“I am an investor for new players and definitely available. Hamburg must land a big transfer, because that will attract more top players and make us even stronger,” he concluded.
Van der Vaart’s transfer to Hamburg could be unlikely as Spurs would not want their star player to leave considering Luka Modric’s departure to Real Madrid is inevitable. The Dutchman should be part of Andre Villas Boas’ plans
for the next season as the London side look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
