The Germany international claims that mental health issues hampered his preparations for the new campaign and expressed gratitude to the team coach for his help during a tough time.
Hamburg defensive midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dennis-Aogo-c10904, has maintained that a bout of depression was the main reason behind his absence at the start of the season. The versatile player was backed by his coach Thorsten Fink, who approved the
young defender’s request to investigate his mental health problem.
The left-back claimed that towards the final stages of the offseason, he dealt with stress and it became more difficult for him to get up. He stated that the body and mind work collectively and have a strong link between each other.
At first, the 25-year-old thought the issue was just temporary but later realised that it was affecting his ability to perform. The youngster admitted that at this point he was a liability to the Bundesliga outfit.
"At the end of the pre-season, I found it harder and harder to get up," Aogo was quoted as saying in an interview.
"Body and mind are interrelated. I thought that it was just a phase but the point came when I could no longer help the team,” he stated.

received help for 10 days from rehabilitation centre and told that he is back from his bout of depression.
"I was depressed and mentally I felt that I was no longer myself. Therefore, I asked the coach if I could get it checked thoroughly," he mused.
"After 10 days [of care] the motivation and momentum came back. This was not an easy time but I feel really good again," he finally concluded.
Aogo added that after spending over a week under supervision he gained momentum and motivation to get his competing nature back. He insisted that it was a difficult time but is pleased with his progress.
