Hamilton Academical keeper says club can beat relegation
Hamilton Academical goalkeeper Tomas Cerny says that the last-placed Scottish Premier League side can use their experience in avoiding relegation to move away from the drop zone once again.
In the 2008-09 season — their first in the SPL — Accies slipped to the boot of the table after losing nine games in a row before the end of 2008. However, they bounced back after December to eventually finish in ninth place and escape dropping immediately back
into the First Division.
A 3-0 loss to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday 10 November saw Accies slip to the bottom, one point behind both Aberdeen and two behind St Johnstone, St Mirren and Hibernian.
However, Cerny sees no reason to worry and believes Accies have what it takes to survive for another year.
He told reporters that: "I've been in this situation before but it's a very long season with so many games still to come. This isn't the toughest position we've been in.
'We can turn things round'
"In our first season in the SPL we were bottom at Christmas but went on a run and things changed for us. We can do that again."
Accies will next play host to Inverness Caledonian Thistle when the high-flying Caley Jags visit New Douglas Park on Saturday 13 November. However, the home side will have their work cut out if they are to beat their opponents, as Caley have not lost on the
road in the league all season.
Cerny added that: "Inverness have been doing really well away from home but now we're at the bottom every game is important for us."
Hamilton, on the other hand, have yet to win at home, having drawn one and lost five of their SPL games at New Douglas Park this term.
