Hamilton Bags another victory at the Canadian Grand Prix
Hamilton claims it once again. The Canadian Grand Prix held yesterday proclaimed Lewis Hamilton, the McLaren driver as a winner. Meanwhile his teammate Janson Button stood second, repeating the team result from last month’s Turkish Grand Prix.
The nail biting racing event ended in turning the world championship fight completely in a new direction now, as the McLaren MP4-25’s scored the team’s third one-two of the season. The race was nothing but a breath taking event that did not let the drivers or the spectators blink their eyes throughout the race.
Before the match began, Red Bull’s Mark Webber, who led the world championship till then and the McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton who also won the last Grand Prix in Turkey, were thought to be the toughest competitors in the race. However, Webber who started as the second fastest qualifier had to move back five grid places because of the replacement of his car’s gearbox. Later, a collision between Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Vitantonio Liuzzi of Force India, not only proved lucky for Hamilton but also for a number of other racers who acquired positions that could not have expected by them otherwise.
Hamilton’s ever raging speed allowed him to grab the lead from Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, leaving Fernando Alonso of Ferrari behind him. As the track kept unfolding, the positions kept altering in a surprising manner, as Vettel took the lead with Webber acquiring second place. However, Hamilton was quick to get closer in a little while, though struggling with the grip of tiers on the track.
The race had its twist once again when the Red Bulls pitted, at the thirteenth and fourteenth laps. Vettel lost his ground but Webber stayed on the primes, determined to build enough of a lead to let him able to stop for the options without losing his first place. The plan did not come out the way it was planned, owing much to the heavy mid-race traffic, resulting in his lost the lead before his final stop on Lap 50. Hamilton overtook the Ferrari on the final straight, and the hard struggler Alonso, came under intense pressure from Button, who stole second place from him at the 56th lap.
The race at Montreal had left with some surprising and interesting scores as Hamilton snatched the lead of the ongoing season from Webber with 109 points and McLaren’s Button bagged 106. Webber moves to the third place at the drivers standing with 103 and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who expressed his confidence and hopes, has been able to end with 94 points. He’s one place ahead of Red bull’s Vettel who has secured 90 points so far.
At the Championship standing, McLaren has taken the first place from Red Bull leaving Ferrari at the third place with two hundred and fifteen, one hundred and ninety three and one hundred and sixty one points respectively.
As the race ended, Hamilton told that it was one of those races where judging how hard one needs to push and how much to try and conserve ones tiers was very hard.
He also added that it had been a tremendous weekend, a truly fantastic one. He beamed as he explained that things have gone very well for them. Also, he added that he was grateful the way the British present in Montreal have supported and cheered them. Moreover, he told that the team had also shown an exceptional job without which the race results could not have been what they are now.
He excitedly proclaimed that this one had been the toughest race of the season so far but that’s what any driver would love to have, won with a tough competition.
Hamilton won his first Grand Prix in Canada three years ago and to come back and have the success repeated is surely a pleasure worth celebrating the way he did the Sunday evening.
