Hamilton-Brown credits Maynard as the “biggest drive” in his career – Cricket News Update
Having made the decision to sign with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rory-Hamilton-Brown-c2366 has stated that the memory of his deceased friend will spur him on as he looks to advance his cricketing
career.
“He’s massively with me as I go forward in my career,” Hamilton-Brown said in an interview with the
Telegraph. “There is no doubt he will be the biggest drive in my career.”
The abrupt and tragic death of Tom Maynard, the Surrey and England http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 batsman identified as a bright potential young talent for the England national team, sent shockwaves throughout the cricketing community earlier this year. The aftermaths of the accident
proved fairly difficult for the deceased cricketer’s teammates to handle, more so for his Surrey captain and close friend Hamilton-Brown.
The 25-year-old was granted compassionate leave, in order to give him time to recover from the shock. However, following his return from the break, the right-hander was unable to regain his form, and in order to give him a chance to re-launch his career
and re-discover his game in a new environment, Surrey gave him permission to consider another club, despite having signed him on until 2014.
Facing a choice between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 and Sussex, Hamilton-Brown (who had previously played for Sussex) settled on the latter, with a clear idea of what he expected from his move.
“There were three reasons for my move to Sussex,” he said. “The first thing I want out of my cricket is to be happy – I feel that will be the case at Sussex. Secondly, I want to win trophies and, thirdly, I want to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. Those are the three big
points I want to get out of my career ... Sussex seems the right place for all of those things for me.”
The move to Sussex provides him the opportunity to advance a career that has spanned 51 first-class matches (2893 runs), and 72 list A matches (1617 runs), and has already included a string of impressive achievements, including taking up the Surrey captaincy
at the tender age of 22, and leading the side to the 2011 CB40 title.
