Hamilton confident that his car would bring back his lost luck
The McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton shows a lot of confidence for the upgrades the team is expected to come up with at the Korean Grand Pix.
The team is to run the last updates of the season at the upcoming race, as they were not able to show these modifications at the last round in Japan, owing to a number of mishaps that came their way keeping them from testing these updates in the car.
The round at the Suzuka track gave a very limited time to the team to experiment the up-gradations of the car. Both the team drivers, Hamilton and Jenson Button went wide off the track, damaging both the McLaren cars right at the first practice session.
Moreover, Saturday morning saw heavy rainfall at Suzuka preventing the cars from coming out for the third practice. Moreover, the qualifying also got postponed up till Sunday morning, and took place just before the race on Sunday. Because of all this the team
was not able to test its updates completely; they now plan to run them at the upcoming Grand Prix in Korea.
During the little practice that they had at Suzuka last week the up-gradations of the rear wing and F-duct were tested but that did not show the results desired by McLaren.
Now as Hamilton recalls the incidents of the last race, he reckons that the car would be performing far better in the upcoming round. He is of the view that had he not faced the gear box problem he would have definitely crossed Mark Webber. Things were made
even worse on the race day for the 25-year-old, as he further received a 5-grid place penalty for having his gear box changed just before the race. Keeping in mind all these mishaps, he still made it to the 5th place.
Now as the teams prepare to head for the final three Grand Prix, to be held in South Korea, Brazil and the last of the season in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton said, "I was pleased with the pace we showed during the race, Jenson set the second-fastest lap, and, before
my gearbox problem, I was closing down on Fernando [Alonso] and could even have made it onto the podium despite a five-place grid penalty. Given that we weren't racing all the updates we'd brought to Japan with us, I think that gives us a lot of encouragement
for Korea and beyond."
Since the British driver joined Formula One, he has been at the top of the points’ tally year after year. The first season of his career with Formula one in 2007 was packed up by the driver at second place, only losing the championship at the last round
of the season when Kimi Raikkonen won surprisingly, only because of his good luck.
The next season i.e. 2008 made his dreams come true as Hamilton got the first World Championship title, making the record of being the youngest World Champion of Formula One history. Though the last season had not been a brilliant one for the racer yet he
bounced back this year in great force staying at the top of the Drivers’ Championship for most part of the year. However, the last five races of the season had been very unlucky for the young lad, as he retired in three of them.
Although he currently stands at 5th place in the points’ tally, still he firmly believes that only a race win could take him back to the top place, which he hopes to get very soon.
