Hamilton rubbishes Whitmarsh’s comments about his battle with Button for fourth win – Formula 1
Lewis Hamilton has said that he disagrees with his team principal Martin Whitmarsh’s viewpoint that he will be fighting with teammate Jenson Button for a fourth win of the season at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Whitmarsh then turned the attention to the battle for outright victories between the two teammates by saying, “I'm sure both of them think they can make it four by the end of the season. I know them both well enough that they will want to be the driver who
comes out of the year with four wins. They'll both fancy their chances of winning in Brazil.”
Hamilton has said that he does not agree with the assessment that his team principal has drawn and stated that Button’s performance has not affected him in any way and the bigger picture is that the team is winning.
“For the life of me I don't know why he (Martin Whitmarsh) would say that because that's not the case,” Hamilton said. “Of course we both want to win, but it doesn't matter whether he or I get it, we still end up on a high. That's my view anyway.”
This season has not been one of his best which the Brit has admitted himself. The season has been marred by controversies and poor showing at the races, but Hamilton has found a new spring from the latest win at the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Now Hamilton is looking to make the best of the form he is in and try to win in the last race of the season which is to be held in Brazil later in the month. Although Button has performed very well in the season and is ahead in points in the drivers’ standing,
but the teammates are tied with three wins each for the season.
Hamilton has never been behind in points from his teammate this is the first time it has happened during the current season, and although a win at the final race of the season is not going to change that but it will give the McLaren driver a much needed
boost for a fresh start to the 2012 season.
