Hamish Bennett happy with his progress from a back injury – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamish-Kyle-Bennett-c61366, is hopeful of a swift return to competitive cricket following a persistent back complaint which has kept him out of action since the past 15 months.
"It's going really well so far," he said. "The surgeon seems happy with his work and it feels good."
The promising young fast bowler’s career has been blighted with various injury problems, which has further curtailed his involvement with the national team since he made his debut in 2010.
He suffered an ultimate heartache during his side’s World Cup campaign last year, where he damaged his ankle during the team’s group game against co-host http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DR-Tuffey-c1402.
His only Test match appearance also ended in disappointment after a groin injury forced him to miss out the remainder of the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. His comeback was then halted by a serious back complaint, ruling him out of his side’s tour of Zimbabwe late last year.
He was due to represent his domestic side in the HRV Cup, which began in December 2011, but again had to sit out the early part before doctors ruled him out for all of the season.
"Scans have revealed that a combination of factors are combining to put pressure on a nerve in Hamish's back and thus causing recurrent pain when he attempts to bowl at 100%," NZC medical director Ian Murphy had said back then.
With the Kiwi’s starting 2012 in mixed fashion – a home series win against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 ( all formats), Bennett’s recovery will be a good boost, considering the lack of resources at the team’s disposal.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TG-Southee-c2659, another promising pacer, has yet to fulfill his potential and has also been dogged with injuries and a loss of form.  While Bennett has yet to take the field, the player remains satisfied with the overall progression he has made recently.
