Hamish Mcgonagall, leading contender for Betfred The Bonus King Whistlejacket Conditions Stakes at Musselburgh
Having stayed out of action for almost seven months, Hamish Mcgonagall is all set to display an impressive show in Betfred The Bonus King Whistlejacket Conditions Stakes, taking place at Musselburgh on Saturday, April 07, 2012.
His yard is currently going through a severe slump, but Hamish Mcgonagall can break the shackles to earn victory for Tim Easterby. So far in his career, the seven-year-old has grabbed eight Flat victories, but he is yet to open his account in Stakes.
The officials will kick off proceedings at 14:45 GMT. The going is good to soft for the 5f meeting, which holds a cash prize of £12,938.
The runners taking part in the class 2 event are: Hamish Mcgonagall, Borderlescott, Captain Dunne, Mister Manannan, Bear Behind,
Shoshoni Wind, Excel Bolt and Wicked Wench.
Hamish McGonagall performed decently last year, but he could seal only one victory. His last triumph came in April last year, when he secured top position by a couple of lengths in the Scottish Racing Conditions Stakes at Musselburgh.
Although the bay gelding maintained good standard after that, no victory came to his way. In his last trip, the son of Namid seized third place in the Qatar Prix Du Petit Couvert.
With none of his rivals in special form, it is an ideal stage for Hamish McGonagall to bring some delight to the yard. Mister Manannan is likely to show some fight. The five-year-old did well in his last two races last year.
After clinching an easy win in the Prestwold Conditions Stakes, David Nicholls’ trainee went on to nab third place in the Violet And Eddie Smith Memorial Conditions Stakes in September last year.
Borderlescott is struggling with his form these days. Similarly, Captain Dunne needs a slice of luck to come out of his lean patch.
Everything looks in favour of Hamish McGonagall. Since most of his opponents are in poor rhythm these days, Hamish McGonagall has an obvious chance to seal victory. Irrespective of the final outcome, it is going to be a thrilling clash. We wish best of luck
to all runners.
