Hello, im trying to decide on a light weight sleeping arrangement for hiking/canoeing. was hoping i could get peoples ideas/experiences with using a hammock at nsw campsites, did you have any problems finding a place to hang the hammock?did anyone complain? did any sort of forest ranger type person see you using a hammock and make a posative or negative comment.

would really appreciate your help.

  1. I have never seen a hammock used for sleeping in a camping site and wouldn't advice it unless you like sleeping with spiders.

  2. Ive never ever seen one hanging in a caravan park/ camp ground.

I dont know how you'd go about being able to use one. I mean if you're allowed and stuff. Even if you were the weather is quite unpredictable and it often rains suddenly esp at night.

People would probably ask 'what are ou doing?' if they seen you in a hammock.

  3. I have an Eagles Nest Outfitters hammock and have used it to sleep at a campsite (i have a ENO bugnet and tarp also), and no one ever approached me about it.

The hammock I have doesn't hurt the trees or environment, and was extremely comfy and easy to bring along.

I actually think that hammock camping is better for the evironment than tent camping.
