  1. I hate to tell you this , but it maybe best to say a nice blessing and leave it to God .

  2. In my area it would typically cost just under $200.  You'll have to phone around to vets in your area to see what costs are, prices vary a lot depending on where you live.

There are a few things to make sure of before you go ahead with surgery.  You'll want a vet that is comfortable with exotics and regularly performs surgery on them.  You'll also want to find out what kind of anesthetic they will be using (isoflurane is the safest) they should be using an inhaled anesthetic (not something injected).

You'll also want to make sure that they are using pain medication after the surgery, there are some vets that don't do this for exotics.  Without proper pain management your hamster will not recover well or at all.  One of the major reasons for death after surgery in exotics is inadequate pain management.

  3. Probably about 800 dollars,  maybe a vet will let  you work some of it off.  They sure should, I will pray that you find  one.

  4. probably like 400 dollars   :(  sorry

  5. a little over a hundred dollars.

I hope the best for you and your hammie!

  6. In the high 100s. I guess it all depends on the place you go to.  And, the hammy might not live until the end. :*(

It might just be a risk. Unless he is REALLY young, 8 weeks - 5 months or something, I would just pray for him and give up the operation :(

Im really sorry. But its none of my business, do whatever you want. Please fill us in on your decision. :D You can also contact the vet or go on google.  I wouldnt do the operation, unless it was a person..

  7. $100-$200, I'm so sorry about your hamster, if your family is more wealthy and your hamster is still young, go for the surgery. There is only a 50/50 chance that he will live, so if you choose not to go with the surgery, you will have to enuthanize him. :'( I'm so sorry.

  8. Normally vets do not do surgery on hamsters to remove tumours. The reason being surgery on such a small animal is complicated and it does not give guaranteed results.

Also, external tumours can be successfully surgically removed but internal tumours such as those involving internal organs and showing on the outside as a swelling may be difficult to treat.

A vet can charge anywhere from 150 - 200 dollars for a surgery.

If you want to go ahead with the surgery to try and give your hamster a chance, you can, however my personal advice to you (though it might sound hard, trust me, it is from my own experience) would be to let the hamster live happy for the rest of his life (the surgery can be more traumatic to the hamster) and if the tumour appears to cause the hamster pain, or grows so large that the hamster finds it difficult to move, it is kinder to let your vet put the hamster to sleep.

  9. My friend's hamster had a tumor the size of a gumball as well. She got it removed, but the hamster did not survive through the surgery. Its cost her $158. It depends on the place you go to. I have seen the prices range from $100-$280

Since the hamsters body's are so tiny, it is hard for them to handel the drugs they need to put on the hamster. Some hamsters have had successful surgery's though. It is a 50/50 chance. If your hamsters tumor is badly infected and hurts him, maybe you should consider having a vet put it down since it may be kinder.

It is your decision on what you want to do =-)
