Hampshire lose Lumb to foot injury
Hampshire opening batsman Michael Lumb has been ruled out of the Friends Provident t20 tournament finals day after he broke his foot in a game against Somerset. Lumb was fielding close to the pitch and a shot from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Kieswetter-c51708 smacked him on his foot that broke it. Lumb is an English international in the t20 format of the game, having opened in all the matches of the ICC World t20 along with Kieswetter.

This injury will mean that Lumb will not only miss the FP t20 finals day, but will be doubtful for the couple of t20Is that England plays against Pakistan. Currently, England is involved with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in a Test series, and there are two more games to go before the t20Is begin.

Lumb has been out of form for Hampshire in the t20 format, but he had looked to have regained some of his runs in the four-day fixture against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782. Lumb cracked a 158 last week but the game ended in a draw. In the 10 games that he has played in the t20 format of the game, he has scored only 76 runs this season.

This injury will be an issue for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783.

Hampshire has never qualified for the finals day before this year and qualified by the skin of their teeth this year. They ended with 16 points, tied for the fourth place with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 but Lumb was not a part of the playing eleven.

Lumb was also a part of the Indian Premier League this year, and had represented the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals under Shane Warne. Lumb played in 11 out of the 14 games, and ended with 278 runs with a highest score of 83.
