Durham needed 276 runs for victory against Hampshire in a match of the County Championship Division One at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street in England on Saturday, August 13, 2011.
Both teams batted once in the four-day game, as rain had interrupted most of the first three days. Durham forfeited their first innings whereas the opposition did the same with their second innings.
However, the hosts were unable to chase the target down, losing the match by 50 runs in the end. The team’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phil-Mustard-c2183 was the only player to score a half-century in the innings, collecting 56 runs. His effort went in vain though, as the entire
team was dismissed for 225 runs.
Durham would have liked a positive start to their innings, but lost opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Di-Venuto-c1954 early. The seasoned campaigner managed just 1 run off 23 balls in his struggling outing.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Blackwell-c1569 was the next man to be dismissed in the innings after adding 11 runs to the total. Durham had lost half their side within 100 runs at that stage of the innings, as they were 79/5.
However, a 45-run stand for the sixth wicket between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-Benkenstein-c1302 and Mustard gave some momentum to the team. The former was unable to carry onto the start he got to his innings and was dismissed after adding 28 runs to the total with the help of five
boundaries.
Mustard got very good support from lower-order player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Callum-Thorp-c1211, as the pair collected 64 runs for the seventh wicket partnership. The latter played aggressively, scoring 43 runs off just 49 deliveries. His impressive performance came to an end though,
as he was the seventh wicket to fall in the hosts’ innings.
Just three runs later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Claydon-c1973 was also dismissed after scoring 3 runs. He was followed by Mustard, which decided the outcome of the game. The Durham skipper got out after contributing 56 runs to the total with the help of nine boundaries.
