The hosts required 276 runs for victory on the final day’s play, but failed to reach the target. The entire team was all out for 225 runs.
Most of the first three days were affected by rain, including no play at all on day-two. Due to this, both teams mutually decided to forfeit one innings each in order to end the match in a result.

The latter was unable to make most of the start he got to his innings and was dismissed after adding 23 runs to the total with the help of five boundaries.

Durham and Hampshire then forfeited their first and second innings respectively, which set a target of 276 for the hosts.
