However, the arrival of SM Ervine changed the course of the game as the batsman stood defiant against the bowling onslaught in order to save his team from complete annihilation.
He forged a stupendous partnership with wicketkeeper/batsman, MD Bates, as the duo steered their side to tally of 159 after which Bates was dismissed with an innings of 41 to his name.
Meanwhile, Ervine stood tall as he remained unbeaten on an innings of 109 runs, as his side finished off their first innings.
