Surrey 94/6 (20/20 ov) v Hampshire 95/3 (15.3/20 ov) - Hampshire won by 7 wickets (with 27 balls remaining)
Hampshire proved their dominance in the ongoing Friends Life T20 tournament on Saturday, as they beat Surrey by seven wickets, in the match that was played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.
Apart from losing the toss, nothing went wrong for Hampshire, as they gave an astounding bowling performance to restrict the side batting first from amassing a big tally on the board.
Facing the wrath of Hampshire bowlers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 could only manage to save some lost pride by posting a total of 94 runs for the loss of six wickets, at the end of their 20 overs.
This total was by no means intimidating enough for Hampshire to huddle and plan out some "out of this world strategy" to chase down the total. However, things were not the same in the Surrey camp, as they knew that they needed to give a majestic batting performance to grab a win from the clutches of defeat.
Hampshire began their run chase with JHK Adams and JM Vince. And the two batsmen exhibited their superiority by hammering away the bowlers at will remorselessly.
The bowling side desperately needed to contain the situation, before watching the game slip out of their hands.
The Hampshire openers were, nonetheless, obvious of the desperation that was creeping into their opponents as they wanted to reach the target as soon as possible.
Finally in the seventh over, with 43 runs on the board, Surrey made headways by breaking the partnership on taking the wicket of Vince, who edged a delivery to wicketkeeper Davies, off the bowling of M Kartik.
ND McKenzie was in next, but before he could forge a meaningful partnership with his skipper, Kartik struck for the second time, by dismissing Adams, who was also caught by the wicketkeeper after crafting an innings of 17 runs off 20 deliveries. At the time of this wicket, the batting side had posted 50 runs on the board.
Then with 53 on the tally, Hampshire lost their third wicket on the demise of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Katich-c2543, who could score only a run before losing his wicket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/McKenzie-c75497 and GJ Maxwell then stood unbeaten as they took the side across the finish line by smashing 20 and 22 runs.
