  1. Chances are you picked the little guy up right after he had filled his mouth with food to hide. If he/she is in a new tank or home it will try to hide a lot of food as that is their nature. They are similar to a squirrel that will put several nuts in the mouth to take to a hiding spot for later

  2. yeah, hamsters like the stuff their mouths full with those seeds, it is a natural instinct from when they are in the wild, most likely the hamster notices it is in a different environment and seems little unsure of it. It should be anything to worry about, just make sure you keep an eye on it for any other behavior.

  3. not to worry hamsters have cheek pouches that they can hold up to twice their body weight in. they use these to store food in, because even though you friends hamster is a pet and gets fed regularly he is still worried that he will stop being fed. you know how a dog will bury his bone for later? well that's kinda like what this hamster is doing, saving it for later.

  4. its normal...i have 2 of them. its a way of self defense i think. because you picked it up. but they do it all the time. nothing to worry about.

  5. It is okay because hamster like to feel their mouths with food.

  6. It is fine and nothing to worry about. The hamster must have stuffed his cheek pouches with food and you must have picked him up right after he loaded his cheek pouches. Since the hamster cannot hold the food in the pouches for a very long time, he decided to offload it on your hand. Or he could have got scared by the sudden movement of your lifting him and offloaded the food so that he can try to escape faster without the added weight. Whichever way it is, it is perfectly normal.

  7. They keep their food in their pouches, it was just emptying the contents out because it did not want to carry them anymore, my two always do that.

  8. Don't worry - its just empting its cheek pouches!

Mine empties hers into her ball so when she's running round there's suddenly this rattling sound and I have to go sort her out.

  9. Yes lol.  Hamsters have food pouches in their cheeks, and they empty them when their hungry.  My hamster does that all the time haha.  She goes under my bed or something and she spits out all her wet food (ewww..lol)  It's normal, don't worry she wasn't sick or anything=)

  10. dont worry they always do thing like that like they take the food you would give them and they would store it and eat it later on in the day!

  11. this is normal it is just trying to store its food in a certian place                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              p.s. i know because i have owned a hamster every year of my life and im 24

  12. yup. normal. they store food in pockets inside their mouth and their cheeks will fill out rather large. did yours ever do that when you were little......perhaps you never got to see that.

lol....it sounds very cute. it's perfect and normal in every way.

he must of felt very comfortable with you to share his bounty of stashed food. :)

  13. it's chucking the food out of it's food pouches!!!
