What do you do if your hampster gets loose in your house? Our ball cracked open and our hampster is loose in the basement. We can't seem to find her any suggestions on what we should do.

  1. try looking in tight spots, under things and behind things

  2. Put a good sized box that she can get into in your basement with some bedding, food, water, and a treat in it.

She will get hungry and go into the box.

  3. Give this a try -

If you still have some of the old bedding with the smell of the hamster in them, put some of it in a tray along with a few pieces of the hamster's p**p on the floor of the place closest to where your hammie escaped.

Spread some of his favourite treats and hamster food on the bedding. Some treats can include sunflower seeds, cheese, rice krispies or corn flakes.

The hamster, if nearby, would definitely come back since the scent of his bedding and p**p is too strong for him to resist.

You will have to watch guard over the tray from a quiet corner at nightime and the only disadvantage of this is that you might have to stay awake for one or two nights until you spot your hamster.

I hope you find your hammie soon! All the best!

  4. Where would a hamster go? They like nesting materials and they like food. Set up an area in the basement with bedding and nesting materials, plus food and water, he'll come to the spot. Keep searching!

  5. try putting a box with a hole in it with the hamster's fave food and maybe put half of the food bowl put it in the box with the food in it and poke ot a small hole on the top where the food is placed tie it to something that makes noise. Then it will be bothered by the srting and will move it out of the way and the noise will be well making noise then you can hear the noise in the basement and catch.Hope this works!

  6. What you do, is you put food (lure) in a bucket, thats no too high of course, with a little step ladder leading to the outside edge of it.  When she goes to get the food, she will fall in (because hamsters are near sighted).  You will want to pad the floor of course.  The hamster will not be able to climb out of a bucket because it has sheer smooth walls, so, check it in the morning and your hamster should be inside.

If not, your hamster might have moved to another room.

  7. put treats inside a container and watch if it goes in there. once it goes in catch it.

  8. PUT SOME CHEESE DOWN.  PUT HER CAGE ON THE FLOOR AND HER FOOD BOWLS OUT AND LEAVE THE CHEESE OUT AND WATCH FOR HER.  HAMPSTER LOVE CHEESE.  I HOPE YOU CAN CATCH THE HAMSTER.

  9. Yeah.. might wanna just go search and maybe call a couple friends to help, I had a hampster when I was seven and the same thing happened, but I was the only one who cared to look, and I never found her.
