* well syrian hamsters should not be kept together as they fight most dwarf hammies like being kept in same s*x pairs but female chinese hammies dont get on so well .

* dwarf hamster need to be kept in cages they cant escape in .

* also clean your hammies cage out at leat once a week

* make sure your hammie has a gnawing block so that there teeth dont get to long.

* call a vet ammideantly if your hammie is ill.

* always make sure your hammie has fresh food and water.

* make sure your hammie gets enough exersize.

* do as much reasech on hamsters as you can before yoy get one especially if you are a first time owner.

* be careful what you feed your hamster.

* hamsters are nocternal animals so are more active during the evening.

* clean the cage or tank with pet safe disinfectant.

* make sure the cage is not near direct sunlight,radiators or draughts.

* keep your hamster away from other pets.

* never wake a sleeping hamster as it may bite you.

* let your hamster get used to its cage for a few days so dont handel it for the first few days.

once they are tamed they are loveble and cute and they are lovely pets for children and adults good luck with your hamster !!! =)

an ordinary hamster is easy to care for! they say that you cant hold them right when you get them but thats not true. to build a good relationship with your hamster..take it slow..pet him/her and then move on the holding. they dont always bite..only when they are scared so as long as you dont scared them you are probably ok!. they need to be feed and watered every day amd clean their tank maybe once every 2 weeks.  (they say every week but mine doesnt get dirty fast at all) give them a wheel and wood toys to chew on to help their teeth from growing too big! they sleep during the day so you can cuddle with them during the day and they will sleep on you lap :) and they are super hyper at night! hahah :)

they are GREAT pets :)

PS: i would recomend a glass tank with a lid...they are 10x easier to clean!! and when you try to hold them they cant escape into the tubes that are built into a plastic cage :) also give them fresh water everyday!

Its "hamsters" not hampsters.  They are furry and loveable.  You can take them out if they don't bite you.  They will run all around but be careful you don't lose them.
