Hampton Cup Player Ratings: Heathcote versus Circa – Polo Update
The quartet of Heathcote shocked Circa at 11-10 in the event-opening game of the Hampton Cup being contested at the Bridgehampton Polo Club on Friday, August 19. The Heathcote foursome were being stared upon as the underdogs going to the maiden appearance
in the tournament, mainly owing to the fact that they were have fewer handicaps as compared to talented Circa. Apart from result of the game, both the quartets displayed wonderful shows and enthralled the spectators. The lead changed hands with both teams
on many occasions and increased the suspense.
Heathcote
Tommy Biddle: 08/10
As per the expectations, Biddle delivered an outstanding performance. No one can say much about the number one player of Heathcote. His inspiring ball handling and stick-work paid him off in the head of seven notches that played vital role in the triumph.
His close control paid him room to increase the tally in the last set of play. He was energetic throughout the six frames of play.
Nico Taverna: 06/10
He accomplished three successful goals and was quite influential on the field. He managed to exceed the opponent’s defenders and showed a decent passing game in order to give chances to the front man. He showed his real commitment with the game and brought
all the team-mates into the play.
Nick Manifold: 07/10
No doubt, Manifold worked extremely hard and was the best player on the Heathcote team. He performed an extraordinary game between the goal bars. Though he could only score once in the two halves, it was his ball stopping game that created many chances for
the front man. Apart from missing couple of chances, he did not let the ball pass to the opposing team and exhibited a brilliant performance.
Steve Lefkowitz: 04/10
Lefkowitz, the skipper of the Heathcote quartet showed an average game, as he could not impress on offence or defence. After playing the first three chukkas of play, he was replaced with Larry Austin.
Substitute:
Larry Austin: 04/10
It seemed that Austin was completely unknown on the pitch, as he joined the game after the first three frames. Apart from missing some moves, he could not show any miracle in the match.
Circa
Magoo Laprida: 7.5/10
In spite of a quite difficult time, it was a great game from Magoo Laprida. Owing to team work, Laprida moved many times between the poles and earned goals for his team. His five notches not only made the game competitive but also created chances for their
victory. His show also boosted the morale of team-mates who worked hard and gave a tough time to Heathcote.
Martin Pepa: 06/10
The number two player had a good show, which saw him use every trick to break the defensive line of Heathcote. He could add only three goals but that helped the squad to make the match spirited.
Guille Aguero: 5.5/10
Aguero was impressive at the number three position where he not only scored once but made neat saves on many occasions. He attempted to meet the speed of opponent strikers but failed to keep the high tempo of stick work and attacks.
Chris Del Gatto: 04/10
Del Gatto, the captain of Circa team was not above the average player. It seemed he prevented himself from showing much action in the game. The main reason behind his lackluster performance was due to the fact that he could not show fast movement in the
play.
