  1. guinea pigs bite.

    it bit my finger.

    it bled.

    hamsters are cool.

but they dont taste like ham.

  2. guinea pigs are more loving and they have a personality. Hampsters are ugly small and dont like to be cuddled. If you want a pet to love the you should get a guinea pig. They become part of the family. I have had a guinea pig for a year and she is an awesome pet. highly recommend one!

  3. I saw Dwarf Hamster, because they're smaller and a bit more docile, and they're not as bad when it comes to biting as the rest. Guinea Pigs seem to have health problems. And Dwarf Hamsters are more active.

  4. I'll say get a syrian hamster, they are beautiful!!

Guinea pigs can have a lot of health problems and get rather expensive, but they are bigger, loving and live longer. Its best to get two piggy's though as they do better when they have a little friend.

What i've heard of dwarf hamsters they can be quite nasty, and its better to get two of them also.

    Hope this helped :D

  5. I'd get a guinea pig. Take it from a person who has owned all rodents. First off, guinea pigs rarely bite trust me. Mines never has nor has another other guinea pigs i've seen. Two guinea pigs live much longer than a hamster. I've had a hamster for 2 months and it died. Baby hamster or not..they tend to die young. Three guinea pigs are the easiest to hold and pet because they have a bigger body. It's almost like a mini dog.Besides that..they love it and will make sounds so you know. Four they have more of a personality than any other rodent

  6. That depends...

You need to think about what you want from a pet, and what level of care you can offer (time, money, space etc)

Do you have space for a cage that is at least 7.5 sq feet?

If not, don't get guinea pigs as this is the minimum cage size.

Do want a single pet, or two or more?

Guinea pigs and dwarf hamsters are social species and need the company of their own kind. It is cruel to only get one. Syrian hamsters however are solitary - you can not keep more than one in the same cage or they will literally kill eachother.

    How much can you afford?

Guinea pigs need a variety of fresh veggies daily, and their larger cage means you use more bedding. If money is an issue I would stick to hamsters (so long as you can still afford vet care if necessary).

What do you want from a pet?

Guinea pigs make lots of different noises - like wheeking for their veggies. Piggie lovers find this cute (one of the best things about them!) but some people find it annoying. As prey animals they are quite shy and will run from you, but are usually fine to be held once you have caught them. They rarely bite.

Hamsters tend to be more nippy, although this depends on how much handling they get. The dwarf species are usually quicker so can be a bit more difficult to hold. Hamsters are nocturnal so you may not see much of them! And beware of keeping the cage in a bedroom - trying to sleep through a hamster running on a wheel all night is not fun!

  7. The first answer is actually wrong, if anything hamsters would have the tendicy to bite. The only reason a guinea pig would bite is if you were not holding it right, or it thought your finger was food. I would suggest a guinea pig they are friendly and cute little critters that live up to 8 years, Hamsters live 2-4 years.

  8. i suggest guinea pig!

  9. Hamsters are the best get a syrian they are the sweetest little things. Guinea pigs no and dwarf hamsters uhh well i had one before and they can be fiesty i reccomend the syrian

       Thanks
