Question:

Hamster, rat or mouse?

I have a Petco Rat Manor. It has 1/2 inch bar spacing. Plenty big enough. If I get a rat or mouse I'll get 2. I'd like a mouse, but fear the wire spacing. I LOVE rats. In fact, I've owned 9 before, but when we moved from Hawaii, mom wouldn't pay for their shipping, so I gave to a friend.

  1. you should try getting a teddy bear hamster they are sweet adorable and kind but only one they will not get along with another hamster

  2. mice stink rly bad... id say get a rat since you love them plus you can do more w/ a rat than a mouse.:] i had three...one was nude.. loved it! lol and besides rats > mice imo :P

  3. I vote for rats...especially since you have experience with them..

  4. First off good job on getting the rat manor. I have one and absolutely love it. Personally i wouldn't try putting mice in there. I would recommend the rats.

  5. From experience i dont like any of those. I think if you want a rodent you should get a gerbil. here is my site if you want to read about gerbils. www.freewebs.com/gerbilcraze

  6. Since you have 1/2" bar spacing, I suggest you shouldn't get mice. Although they're adorable little fluff balls, they can really easily slip out of that. 1/2" is for rats, for mice you would need 1/4" bar spacing. Even my largest mouse, who is overweight (but currently on a diet), even escape from that.

And since mice aren't suited for that cage, neither will dwarf hamsters. I don't think you should get a syrian because you want to get two pets, and they should be alone.

    So that just leaves rats.

  7. I'd get a pair of rats for it, the bar spacing isn't suited to hamsters or mice.
