I have to go on a long trip that's about 15 hours...But I don't know if my hammy can handle it in the car. If it can, could I take him in it's cage or do I have to buy a carrier??? I don't want him to be sick. Please help!

  1. A hamster should sleep most of the ride, as long as it's not a bumpy or gravel road.  He shouldn't get sick, but just make sure he has lots of water. And take him out to play with him for a little while when he wakes up. You should take his whole cage if it will fit in your car on the ground or somewhere that it will stay in place. Just make sure that along your trip your bring food, water, treats, and any medications for sicknesses he may get (if you will be staying for a week or more.) If you decide not to take him,

leave him at your house and have a friend give him fresh food and water everyday. Also, they should play with him so he doesn't get bored.

    Have fun on your trip!

  2. Hamsters can travel in cars but he may become stressed. Keep him near you so you can check on him, but do not take him out of his carrier at all. Make sure he has two bottles of water in case one is knocked off and he has plenty of food for the trip. A small cage with only one level to it will be fine, but you can also keep him in a small carrier if there is enough room for his water & food. Also make sure to take rest stops to check on him & make sure he's not getting too stressed by the car ride. Good luck!

  3. you can put him in a cage with food and water. DON'T LEAVE IN A CAR WITH NO WINDOWS DOWN FORT A LONG TIME.

  4. Its would be better if you board or find somene to baby sit it. But you can also take about 5 stops on the way so you can let it drink. The water bottle will drip!
