  1. They both bite, but females can get more aggresive when they are older i have heard, but all the hamsters ive had are females, and they where SUPER friendly, and never bit anyone.

  2. if you get a female young they are sooooo sweet. all 3 of mine were girls and i loved them!

  3. All of my friends say that they got a girl hamster so they could spoil it with girly things, but when the hamster got bigger the girl hamster became more aggressive. My friends are chickens so they are scared that the hamster might bite her, but they don't bite like lions! So whenever I go over to my friend's house I always hold her female hamster. The female hamster has bitten me twice, and keeps biting the bars of her cage, and almost killed her "mate" (now her "mate" is in another cage, a small cage without a wheel! I'm saving up money to get this hamster a cage and the other one a chew toy!!) so, I got a male hamster and he has only bitten me once because I gave him a sunflower seed but before he could take it, I dropped it, so he accidentally bit my finger. But, I understand, he thought my finger was food! But, boys are little mushballs (which is good =) ) so I like male hamsters better.

  4. I think it depends on the hamster.  I never had a biter of either s*x.  I've had good experiences with both, but I've had more male hamsters.  When you go to buy the hamster, make sure it is friendly and not afraid to be picked up by you.  If it runs away or refuses to be picked up, it will probably end up biting you at some point.

  5. I did find that my females were a bit more nippy and less laid-back than the males, but it may have been an individual thing.

  6. It is generally true, but each hampster has their own personality.
