Hamster Questions?

I want a hamster and I have enough money to buy everything. I was just wondering what the best breed is (one that won't bite)?

And if I'm going to be gone for a weekend and I have someone to change water and food everyday if the hamster will be okay.

  1. all of them can bite but there is a good chance that the teddy bear type wont bite unless they are miss treated or scared the dwarf would probably bit and they can be stubborn

  2. i have 2 hamsters,a chinese and a blackbear.both best hamsters ever.luv um.one of those are good.but i agree with rodent master that blackbears are the best

  3. Its great that you are going to get a hamster. ^^ If you are a beginner than I suggest getting a syrian hamster. They are bigger and easier to tame. Then again all hamsters bite if you anger them. Dwarf Hamsters are smaller and much faster, you can also buy more than one. If you decide to get a syrian then you have options like long haired or short haired. Long hairs are gorgeous and I highly recomend them. Syrian hamsters also tend to stay tame while dwarfs dont. Just remember that if you get a hamster he is most likely going to bite since he is new and not used to his new enviroment. Once you tame tthem they can be quite lovable.

Your hamster will be fine if you have someone give him fresh food and water daily.

Good Luck with picking your perfect hamster!! Hope I helped! ^^

  4. I have the sweetest hamster named humphrey that I got in march. He is a European Black Bear Hamster. He is Jet Black with a little brown on his back and a white stripe down his back. They are very sweet and dont bite much if you hand tame them (which is easy with them). They live 2-3.5 years!!! They are super easy to hold and are very cute. I recommend them. Good Luck and Happy Hamster Hunting!!

  5. Definitaly a Teddy bear hamster

    (Also known as a Syrian)

I am about to get one too! In a couple of hours!

I have done tons and tons of research and decided that Teddy Bear hamsters are a good choice. They are most common. They are friendly and like human companionship.

As for the out of town thing, it will be perfectly okay as long as it has someone to change the food and water.

  6. I suggest a teddy bear hamster.  They're less violent then some of the other breeds.  But they all bite if nervous and not handled with care.  And they should be fine for a weekend, if they have water and food.

  7. All hamsters bite, but the Teddy bear hamster doesent bite often. If you want a hamster that wont cut through your skin U should get a dwarf, but they are NOT the best choice...

    and...

Your hammy will b. okay if it has food and water for the weekend.

  8. Get a teddy bear hamster they r really nice.

  9. Sounds like it could be a great match. There are different types of hamsters, read up on them at this site to help you decide on the best one for you.
