Hamster Safe Glue?

Question

im making cardboard toys for my hamster is there a certain type of glue i should use for it?

also how can i train a hamster and what tricks could it learn?

I've made a little house out of craft sticks for my gerbils using Elmer's School Glue. It's the kind that kids use. It's non-toxic. I haven't had a problem with it, and my gerbils chewed up the house, so I'm assuming it's pretty safe. I think it'll be fine for your hamster.

I think the best way to train any animal is to use a reward. In this, it'd be a treat. It's not a trick, but my gerbils have learned that when they see me come up to their tank, it might mean they're getting a treat, so they come up to see me. When I hold out a treat, they must come over and take it from my fingers or they don't get it. It really helped with earning their trust.

Anyway, you could try to teach your hamster how to come to you when you call it's name. Just say your hamsters name and lure it with a treat over to you. Repetition and consistency is key.

The glues that are safe for kids will be ok for your hamster. Labels wil say "non-toxic" generally. If you wanted to be extra cautious, you could make your own flour and water based paste and use that.

i dunnoooooo............. they will eat the glue and im not sure........... but if you call their name in the same tone every time and hold up a treat, eventually he will come running to you when you call him! other then that my hammy doesnt know any tricks.

I wouldn't advise making cardboard toys- the hamsters would have a lot more fun just playing with the cardboard. There IS non-toxic glue but you have to wait until it's dry, taking at least twenty four hours. Just give them the cardboard itself and it'll have a ball.

You can train them to respond to their name using treats, but they have a short memory and attention span and don't really learn tricks.
