Hamster Scratch?

My hamster got a little scratch on her nose and it was bleeding yesterday I am am not sure what to do about it or if its serious?

  1. a very little dab of neosporin won't hurt and otherwise you'll be amazed how quickly hams heal.  They're like mini-Wolverines from the comic book.  I'm not sure if you've got a regular or dwarf ham and whether you've got other hams in with her or not.  If you do, you might want to separate her for a few days to decrease her stress and give her time to heal without the others bothering her (if she's not a dwarf hamster she should be separated all the time anyway).  Other than that, just keep an eye on things - if she won't leave it alone or it gets red or swollen looking or otherwise worrisome, you might want to consider taking her to the vet.  It should clear up in just a few short days however and your little ham will be fine again.  They're amazingly resilient.


  2. If theres another hamster make sure their not fighting. But she probably got it by scratching too much but if its big then use neosprin. Dont worry too much.
