  1. well, if his father had it, you probably will have the same results. it does sound like it may be genetic. look at the behavior differences between the two at that age. as long as thats not what the father died from it should be ok. it may be that he has a small irritation or maybe an infection. if you can, i would call the vet if you have one. if you don't think it is that serious, watch the hamster at night and see if he's biting it. if he is, there is a chance that he has mites or fleas. if he is biting the fur off, call and ask a vet for some kind of anti itch med. like I said, it may just be genetic. if it didn't hurt the father, there is probably nothing to worry about.

Probably not this but, did the father mate with his mother or sister?? that could be an effect of inbreeding also. it is really highly unlikely but it is possible.

  2. It could be that his time on earth is nearing an end, or he could have mites (little parasitic bugs that will cause him to itch and lose fur). Bring your hamster either back to the pet store or the vet to confirm the type of mite that you hamster might have. There is a medication for hamster mites in some pet stores. Your hamster probably does not have something genetically, but there is a very good chance your hamsters father could have passed on mites to your hamster though contact. Just be sure to confirm with a vet or pet store owner to determine if your hamster has mites.

  3. I didn't understand your question. but if your hamster is healthy is should grow back!
