Hamster Wheel?

I know syrian hamsters are meant to have 8" wheels, but apparantly with flying saucers, because theyre horizontal, you actually get a much larger room for running-should i get one for my hamster?

I was going to get a 'Wodent Wheel', but the cheapest one i could find was £11.89! which isnt cheap...should i get it anyway?....thanks, x

Yes, buy it. They will love it. Since they are nocturnal you may want to oil the area where the wheel meets the base, otherwise it will start to squeeze and keep you up all night if you are a light sleeper.

whoa that's expensive you can get one in canada for $5-$15 depending on the brand and type of wheel. i got mine with acessories for the cage with coat me $25.99 for a wheel, water bottle, food tray, some tubes and a little nest all medium sized. i also thing it's better if you buy things as a package.

but i think you should get a wheel for your hamster. exercixe is important for your hamster plus you don't want it to be bored.

I'm not sure how much the European currency changes when you're paying with American dollars, but I just bought a Flying Saucer here for like $13.

I don't know about hamsters though..  I've never heard of them really running in Flying Saucers, but I guess it wouldn't hurt.  It might be cheaper to just buy them a wire or mesh wheel though..

They tend to pee on anything plastic and the plastic tends to absorb the smells and stink like crazy.  Though washing it with Vinegar helps, it doesn't get rid of the smell completely..

dont get one esspesialy if they are used to wheels. if they try to stand on it and stop if just keep moving and they get frustrated and wont use it. go with a wheel. mine has one and refuses to go near it.

you know when you use a ball you hamster exercises when YOU want...and that kinda limits his freedom and your..however if you get him a wheel he can do it when HE wants and thus it gives him freedom. Also buy a regular vertical wheel cuz in those your hamster never feels dizzy.

just put it in a ball every day for half an hour, and it will get the exercise it needs. I'm sure that you don't need to spend £11.89 on a wheel.
