Ok, well I am getting a hamster soon and i

have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and one of my dogs

wouldn't hurt a fly so I'm wondering can i put

my dog and hamster together in my room with the

door closed? And if i can, ill be holding her

because she can go under things in my room.

Also i know how to take care of it but any

info would be great, thanks!

  1. I've introduced my dog to my hamster but I would never leave them alone with the hamster. Usually I just hold the hamster up to the dog's nose and allow him to sniff her for a while but I usually have to pull her away because he tries to give her kisses. I never let my hamster run free on the floor. I never leave the hamster and dog alone together unless the hamster is in it's cage. I wouldn't let the hamster run around on the floor while the dog was in the room unless the dog seems totally uninterested in the hamster and tends to leave it alone. It all depends on the dog. When I was 6 or 7 our hamster got out and the dog found it and brought it back to us alive, a little slobbery but alive. Some dogs will be better than others. It'd be fine to introduce them though.

  2. the hamster will be less stressed if it is not in the same room as the dog. it works out better for both of them. im sure that your dog will just follow his instincts and try to kill the little thing. plus, the hamster would live a life of fear. DEFFINATLY NOT THE CATS!!! the cats would for sure try to kill the hamster. that is positivly in there instincts. keep them out of the room permanently. the cat will go as far as knocking the cage over to get the hamster. i have heard many stories like that that don't well.

  3. i wouldnt recommend you doing that cause hamsters are small animals and dogs are way bigger.and even if your dog is nice your hamster is still gunna be scared shitless.

same thing happened with me i have the nicest dog and i got a hamster and every time i brought my dog near my hamster it would run and hide into  a tube...

so idk that might not meen anything

but i dont think you should do it mabye try it once and see what happens but most deffinatly dont do it the first day you get it cause its already gunna be scared cause its in a new environment

  4. WELL PUT THE DOG IN UR ROOM IF U TRUST THE DOG AND THE HAMSTER TO BE IN THERE BUT ALSO I WOULD PUT THE HAMSTER CAGE ON SOMTHING HIGH SO JUST IN CASE THE CATS GET IN BUT THE DOGS COULD KNOCK IT DOWN SO U COULD PUT THE HAMSTER IN A ROOM THE DOGS DONT GO IN WELL A ROOM THE PETS DONT GO IN SO THE LITTLE HAMMY WONT GET HURT BUT IF U DONT HAVE A ROOM THE PETS DONT GO IN THEN PUT THE HAMSTER IN UR ROOM AND KEEP THE DOOR SHUT AND ONCE IN A WHILE COME IN AND CHEAK ON HIM OR HER. GLAD TO HELP!

  5. No I wouldn't but i guess if your holding it but if you leave it with the dog it might kill it.

  6. If you're asking if your hamster will be ok with your dog, well, only you know how your dog is normally around small animals, etc.  We had a lab mix and a teddy bear hamster and they got along just fine.  Our dog would l**k the hamster but never tried to bite him.  And the hamster never seemed to even know what was going on, just that he was wet.  When introducing them, I would keep a very careful hold on the hamster or the dog's collar, just in case the dog lunges or, less likely, the hamster tries to bite.  Mostly, they'll both just be curious about each other, nothing more.  But again, better safe than sorry, so do it carefully.  Good luck!

  7. I would NEVER leave my dog unsupervised with a rodent.  I have a dog and mouse, and even though my dog is 9 years old, fairly calm, and quite sweet, I still don't trust him alone with the mouse.  Dogs are predatory animals, and it's instinctive for them to chase and/or kill small animals.

  8. umm i wont put the dogs and cats with the hamster.

My cat ate my hamster so i wouldnt

    hope i can help

  9. as long as you are supervising the hamster and the dog and the dog is secure and the hamster is secure, it should be fine, but make sure they are not near each other and never leave the two unsupervised
