so my hamster will be all active eating running around but then out of clear blue he'll stop stare and just sit there and close his eyes a bit as if he taking a quick 1min nap, then either start going around cage a bit or start grooming himself...whats up with him randomly stopping at different spots just to close or squint his eyes for 30 seconds-2 mins? right now he just did it and now he is grooming himself...

ive seen him do this once everynite or every 2 nites

  1. I've seen hamsters do this alot.  I'm not sure what they are doing, maybe just taking a little break, or observing their environment like sniffing the air or listening.

Hamsters are silly. To us it looks cute or silly, but I'm sure in his little hamster brain there's a good reason for his behavior.

  2. Its a hamster, they do weird things. It's nothing to worry about.

  3. umm, i have no clue. is it a girl? mayb pregnant?

  4. All of my hamsters did that.  It's normal.  They also sometimes run on their wheel, get off, and run around the cage.  I think when they run on the wheel and get off of it they think they are someplace else.

  5. lol normal hamster behavior, theyre small creatures with tons of energy. the stopping thing is the hamster finally trying to soak in its surroundings because its been zipping around all over the place. they go extremely active to completely drained in a matter of seconds. they are odd creatures, but fun to watch
