I have been wondering something about hamsters. I don't know what type my hamster is. he is not as big as a syrian but not as small as a dwarf. Are dwarf hamsters hard to keep? I heard they are skittish and are hard to hold but also that they are more easier to hold. Whats the truth on them? and, which is easier to keep, a syrian or a type of dwarf hamster? i am thinking of dwarf hamsters since they can be kept in groups. but syrians are solitary and with my life i cant play with it as much. Would dwarf hamsters be a better decision, or should i just go with a solitary hamster?

  1. We just got some robo dwarf hamsters and you pretty much can not hold them at all! If i had to choose, i would pick a syrian just because they are easier to hold and seem to not be so scared of you.

Don't worry about being gone most of the day, as long as you can hold it a little each day then it's ok, because they sleep most of the day anyway.

It's up to you, but i'd go with syrian, good luck!

  2. Syrians are the easiest to tame and hold. All the others are like gerbils, too hyper.

  3. i personally like syrian hamsters because i think they are easier to hold, more calm, and just as low maintenance as dwarfs. they are solitary, so they dont need your interaction all the time

  4. definetly a syrian.......they are FAR much more easier to tame. dont worr ybout not being home a lot as long as you buy it some toys to play with, it will be perfectly happy!!! and so will you!! :D

  5. only robovoski dwarf hamsters are scitish i would say get a robovoski ino they scitish but that mean thy dont like to be held so u dont need to hold them as much but hold them wen u can and they can be in groups and there alot nicer aswel try this site for more info
