Hamster disease, is it mites?

I have a teddy bear hamster and about a month ago i noticed he had a slightly bald patch on his hip. I can't figure out why and he's acting completely normal besides that. It's been almost a month and that's the only bald patch he has, nowhere else. Could it be mites? Otherwise what else could it be?

  1. possibly allergies to something.

  2. I agree.  That is most likely his scent gland.  It's nothing to be concerned about.  They sometimes can get a little irritated at times or get infected so just keep an eye on it.  If it starts to look funny just take him to the vet.

You can see in this picture too the spot on the hamster's hip.

**Okay, well if it's that big and you are this concerned take him to a vet to get looked at.  If it was my hamster and I was this unsure I wouldn't take the chance of it possibly being something.

  3. aw don't worry it's one of his scent glands don't worry there's nothing wrong.

Try doing some research on hamster scent glands
