Hamster has long hairs on her butt?

My hamster Pringles is a teddy bear hamster. She is a female. I know this because the place where i bought her put her in the "Girl Hamster" Place. For some reason she has long hairs around her butt. My old class pet hamster Stewey from 7th grade did too, and she was also a teddy bear. Stewey never had any problems or sicknesses. She died of old age. Can you tell me why the long hairs are there?

The long haired Syrian hamster can have different coat types.  The long haired female Syrian may have tufts of fur around the hips, fluffy hair over the body, and no skirt around the rear.

However, it is the male that has the true long coat. They may have tufts around their hips, and a skirt around the lower body, and some may just have long hair all over.

Sometimes the long hair may become a problem, by getting matted or tangled with the bedding; it can be trimmed back a little.

If your hamster is a teddy bear hamster, then she would definitely have longer hair on her fur compared to other hamsters. That is the reason they are called "teddy bears".

Hence there is nothing to worry about, take good care of your hamster by providing her well balanced food, clean water and stress free life and she would go on to live a long and healthy life.

that's pretty normal.. all teddy bears have them.

teddy bear have long fur tufts on ther reirs, armpits neck etc... not always all of those places but in atleast one, like an old man LOL =]

That is completely normal although I wouldn't trust the pet store that it is a girl.  I bought two males but when I took them to the vet I found out they were both girls.

lmfao this is a weird question just cut them if they bother you that much but im sure thats ust the hamsters breed DNA to have long butt hairs.. :\ so i wouldnt dwell on it too long
